A ringworm is a fungal infection of the skin that is very common. Ringworm is not from a worm. It can cause a round shape that is very crusty and scaly on the surface of the body. For different skin tones, it may appear as either white or red patches. There are many types of ringworms that can affect different parts of the body. For example if you have a ringworm on your foot, it would be called “Tinea pedis” which is also called “athlete’s foot”. Ringworms can happen to anybody of any age but it is most common in children. Ringworms are contagious because it can be passed from person to person by sharing hair combs, hair brushes, clothes or personal items. If you go to the pool, locker room or gym it is possible you can get a ringworm. You
