I crept down the hall without seeing or hearing anyone and dropped the letter in the mail chute between the elevators. Then I returned to our suite, got back into bed, and slept more soundly than I had for a great many nights.” This shows how determined April is because she didn’t take no for an answer. Although it could’ve put her family in danger, she also knew that contacting her boyfriend was the right thing to do. She was more driven than ever just to get in touch with him so she used this passion to develop a plan and accomplish it. In The Last Star Ringer said, “I sighed. There was no breaking through. I didn’t blame her, though. If she told me, your father wasn’t an artist and a drunk: he was a teetotaling Baptist Minister, I wouldn’t believe her. Cogito ergo sum.
