Improved Essays
Technology has created the opportunity for many things, before driving all the way to the store you can check their website and make sure an item is in stock. You can find out what everyone you know is doing through social media, without even actually talking to them. You can know what’s going on in the world in a matter of a few clicks. Technology has opened the door to many opportunities for many people, one more funny and silly aspect of it is memes. Oxford Dictionary defines a meme as “A humorous image, piece of text, etc., that is copied (often with slight variations) and spread rapidly by Internet users.” As the internet has become more accessible to everyone over time memes have become a bigger part of the internet as a whole, which …show more content…
In his video he defends her to the point of tears, while telling everyone to leave Britney alone. His video went viral and resulted in many people making fun of it and creating parodies of it.
“Rickrolling” is considerably one of the most famous and longest running memes, involving Rick Astley’s “Never Gonna Give You Up.” This meme has been popular for almost as long as the video has been released. This meme involves sending people the link to Rick Astley’s music video, making them believe it’s a really interesting and exciting video then disappointing them when they find out it’s not, resulting in them being “Rickroll’d.”
“Bad Luck Brian” is exactly what it sounds like, a guy with bad luck, although his name isn’t actually Brian, the internet just nicknamed his this. This meme just consists of adding text on top of “Brian’s” unfortunate yearbook picture. This meme became so popular it was sold on t-shirts and other random collectible items throughout many

He then says to the police officer, “Officer, I’ve got one question for you, what are thoseeee?” When asking the rhetorical question, “What are those?” he points then to the officer’s shoes. This video generated many parodies of people approaching random strangers and rhetorically asking them “what are thoseee?” about their shoes, while recording it to later post on social media, such as Vine or Twitter.
“Why You Always Lyin’” started out as a vine parody of the song “Too Close” by the band Next. Because of the popularity of the original parody vine the creator decided to make a full length version. This vine’s popularity resulted in large amounts of parodies involving people editing in the clip of the video into other videos or using it as a response to what someone says when they know they’re lying.
Memes have been popular for years, but specifically in the past few years they have become much more popular. Any photo, video, etc. can easily become a meme if it becomes popular enough. Many memes start out as just an awkward picture of a celebrity or any random person, then they go viral when people began to add funny captions to describe them. Not only are memes funny but they can help people bond because you can easily send a meme as a response to something someone you know, or someone you may not know, and easily start a

Repetition is used throughout the song to emphasize on their uniqueness. As mentioned before, most of De La Soul’s songs dealt with humor and social commentary. As a result, their public image was taken as hippie style. In order to change this stereotype, De La Soul expresses through “Me, Myself and I” that they are De La Soul, a hip-hop trio, not hippies. They want to tell their audience that they are who they are; their styles might appear similar as hippie style, but similarity does not tie with same.…

The first thing the 503.3 million viewers of the “Blurred Lines” music video on Vevo saw was Thicke lying in bed with a topless model while his arm assumes a dominant position over her body almost completely blocking her from the view of the camera. While this position may be perceived as simply cuddling, in the realms of this music video that reflects…

Cowritten by Childish Gambino and Ludwig Göransson in 2012 for Childish Gambino’s album Camp, “Heartbeat” narrates a dysfunctional relationship that cannot be salvaged despite the poetic voice’s desire to do so. [con’t] “Heartbeat” is visibly a song full of confusion, which the narrative voice decides to pass on to the reader as well. Instead of offering full insight for the reader, the reader is forced to follow along with the confusion and stress being felt by the poetic voice. With lyrics such as “I wanted you to know” (Childish Gambino 1) and “I read his posts on your wall and I feel sick” (Childish Gambino 61), the usage of the words “you” and “your” makes the reader infer that the song’s audience is meant to be the female subject. With this…

Throughout time, “heroes” have come and gone each leaving their mark on the world around them. A sociologist, Orrin Klapp, has noticed trends and patterns in how we as a society define our heroes and how we follow them. In the example of entertainers, he said it was their “box office (ability)” (Klapp 54) that brings in their fans and that can in turn lift them to the status of heroism. I feel it is not just the natural ability of the entertainer that elevates them to the status of hero but also their ability to relate to their fans and have a positive impact on their day to day life.…
