This speech has a powerful message. A message that will impact the way you live. He argues that you need to make the most of your life by living everyday like it may be your last. He even has personal experience with death, given he was on the edge of it.The authors argument is supported by a great diction, syntax, and rhetorical devices. These 3 things help strengthen his argument.

To make a speech, or anything for that matter, you need to have strong rhetorical devices. Steve jobs does a great job of this to capture the attention of his audience. He chooses to use the rhetorical device that is catchy. He uses a simile saying,”live everyday like its your last.” At this point in the speech, he has everyone on the edge of their seats wondering where he is going with this statement This rhetorical device links back to the author message directly by stating that you need to live everyday like its your last. Making it link right back to the author's message makes it easier to understand what the author's message is. He states that, “Remembering that I’ll be dead soon is the most important tool I’ve ever encountered to help me make the big choices in life.” Starting a sentence with remembering all be dead soon is very impactful. If that phrase was used at the end of the sentence people might have turned out because having that at the beginning makes people curious of what the sentence is going to say. This further brings the point across that we need to live everyday to the fullest like its our last, by telling us to remind ourselves that we will die soon. That brings motivation to people and makes them realize we only have a little bit of time on this world, so make the best of
