For starters, Soto uses a lot of imagery, due to the fact that, by doing this he’s able to draw the audience in and help them depicted a clear mental image of Soto and his mental state while he stole the apple pie. To elaborate, when Soto first sees the apple pie this ability to think rationally escapes him and in that moment, only his desire remained, and it consumed his entire being. The realization of committing this sin quickly consumed him in sorrow leaving only a waterfall of tears steaming down his face. This shows the figurative language of imagery because it connects to the reader's emotions, the tears, the pain, and the never ending sorrow and the way in which Soto portrays this is very relatable to the audience thus causing them to become a lot more invested into the story while at the same time, they reflect on their own deeds. Thus helping Soto create a regretful tone in the story, which he uses in order to teach his audience that, everyone makes decisions that they regret. However, that doesn’t mean they cannot be prevented, so in the future ignore the desire to sin because if not then that memory of disgrace will never go
