Obama 's "President Obama on Inequality"
Barack Obama said “I believe the defining challenge of our time: Making sure our economy works for every working American.” (para.6) In his speech he states that “America is supposed to be land of equal outcomes but instead we strive to be a land of equal opportunity” (para.7). We try and prosper to make sure every American gets an equal right to jobs, healthcare and schooling in the United States. We have struggled with that for years and in Obama’s speech he shares that, that is why he became president.
In Obama’s speech on inequality, the majority of it is on logos and how he has changed America while he was in office and he plans to keep doing it until the election. Obama uses the same amount of ethos and pathos. When it comes to ethos Obama talks very highly of many president’s that have been in office and what they did to help out the economy. In Obama’s speech pathos was used less. He compared his life when he was young, and also his wife Michelle, and how they both strived when they were younger.

Obama says “… it’s our generations task- to rebuild America’s economic and civic foundation to continue the expansion of opportunity of this generation and the next generation.” (para.36) Obama states that his Grandfather was taught the GI Bill and that is why he is here today. Obama also shares how his dad left his mom and the hardship that they went through trying to raise his sister and going too school, and how the country helped them not go hungry. (p.36) Michelle Obama was the daughter of a shift worker at a water plant and secretary. Michelle Obama wanted to go school just like Obama and the country helped them afford it so they can pay it back.
