The article “Badass American”, is about Kid Rock finding his true identity as an artist. He is strongly influenced by hip-hop and country music, however, he was forged on a path to find his true identity as an artist. This pertains to me, because I have been in situations where I have criticized by others because I was true to myself. One night my friends and I decided to meet up and ride bikes. One of my friends brought a dozen eggs and insisted on egging a boys house. I have never been the type of person to vandalize or give in to peer pressure, because I am above that. I backed out, and told my friends I wasn’t comfortable with the situation, and that I wouldn't partake in it. My friends obviously gave me a hard time, but that didn't matter to me. What mattered is that I was true to myself, and didn't give in to peer pressure. If I gave into peer pressure I would be nothing more than “fake” to myself. I have a wide style of fashion, and I could care less about peoples’ opinions. Fashion can be used to display a persons trait, for example if a person is wearing a “Gucci” jacket, that could indicate the person is wealthy or can afford expensive clothes. Being around college students allows me to express myself in the fashion norm with my peers. I have been in a situation where I was true to myself when the topic of “Yeezys” came up, which are Kanye West’s signature shoes. They are popular, trendy shoes which are really expensive.
