In Peter Singers “Doing the Most Good You Can Do” he speaks about what it signifies to construct a world with less misery and more happiness. He began a movement known as the effective altruism, which is basically how can we use our resources around us to help others the most. It also proposes for us to do significant work that allows us to make larger incomes so that it can be donated to those in need. When thinking about this, a few examples come to mind. For starters, I am on the soccer team. Soccer games usually get very heated. By remaining calm and showing my teammates and the other team what it means to search for peace in any given situation I can do my part in aiding the transformation of culture on the soccer field. When Mouw talks about sharing in the life of the poor, I can translate this concept to my college life by going out of my way to sit by someone in class or at lunch who rarely has someone to talk to.…

As an inhabitant of this world, we may be asked the question; “To what extent does globalization contribute to sustainable prosperity for all people.” This is a question that not many people can answer, while some will provide a vague definition of either globalization or sustainability that is off topic. This just shows how naïve we are to the world around us. As global citizens, I believe we should be more knowledgeable and have a broader understanding of events happening around the world. If people became more knowledgeable and understanding, they would see that there is more than meets the eye to these global issues, but more so that citizens would be able to help those in need and the environment stay sustainable for future generations.…

Globalization contributes to sustainable prosperity to a large extent. When we share ideas and open trade with other nations, cause of this poverty can be reduced by adding more companies that compete for the same service or goods. By making this company would drop prices and make higher quality so that we the consumers buy their goods. Globalization is the when countries participate in international trade with other countries in order to raise their economy. And to do business with other countries to expand their company or product being sold to other parts of the world rather than just their own country. Being able to make a product and then export it to another country can help raise the country's economy. While if the business just stays in the one country there isn't a lot of money coming from that. The videos that we watched explained how owning land is key for expanding any businesses while in poorer countries they do not have the right to ownership of land so they cannot expand and sell outside of their country.…

Even though globalization feels to some like it has been ongoing “for ages,” on the vast timescale of human civilization, it is a very modern development and there are still significant societal differences between nations. Because some nations offer conditions favorable to innovators, the most significant innovations and social changes have occurred within particular nations. The most successful innovators know both how to innovate for humans and to ignore their own human imperfections while doing so. Mahatma Gandhi and Rosa Parks’ successful social movements demonstrate that equality among innovators is a prerequisite to significant innovation and social change. Without Albert Einstein’s values of independent thought and collaboration, significant innovation and social change would be much rarer than it is today.…

During the last two decades, an increasing amount of capital flow, the appearance of multinational companies and cooperation between various regions all have implied the arrival of globalization. It is certain that there are great advantages to globalization. On one hand, globalization encourages free trade between countries, which can further foster working opportunities, for example. I found Theorizing Globalization by Douglas Kellner to be a very information heavy reading. I did like the fact that it was shaped by critical theory because I was able to take what I had learned from the critical theory week to assess this reading as well. Kellner looks at the transformations in the global economy, culture, and politics within the context of the relationship between technological revolution and the global restructuring of capitalism. He also hopes to understand globalization in a dialectical framework between the progressive and emancipatory features and oppressive/negative attributes. With globalization, change can be both imposed from above and from below.…

(J.Campbell, 1) Some believe that globalization is intrinsically “good”, others believe it is inherently “bad”, and still others assert that while it is intrinsically neither good nor bad, it can have both positive and negative effects. (J.Campbell, 4) Some view globalization as the new phenomenon driven by technologies such as satellites, cell phones and internet while others see it as an extension of ongoing processes that encompass all of human history.
