Whilst cardiovascular training has weight loss and heart and lung health benefits, there is
more to fitness than this. Muscle power, i.e. strength and building muscle, is essential for weight
control since it is the best calorie-burning tissue the body has so the more muscle in the body the
better it will be at burning calories around the clock. If someone were to only do cardio, where you
only burn fat while you are exercising, once they stop or take a break they are likely to gain back fat
lost unless they have muscle built as well, which cannot be done just with moderate cardiovascular
