Athlete's foot was first described in the bible as leprosy. In 1888 Celso Pellizzari ,an Italian dermatologist was the first person to describe this infection,then in 1908/ Arthur whitfield ,a professor of dermatology at king's college hospital in london developed Pellizzari theories,and later on has his own ointment named after him called Whitfield ointment which is most effective medication for athletes foot.
