The Golden Gate Bridge is a suspension bridge. It is located in San Francisco, California, and connects to Marin County, California. To San Francisco, it’s one of the most known symbols. The construction began January 25, 1933, ended April 19, 1837 and opened May 27, 1937 which lasted for one week. The whole project cost more than 35 million dollars. Many people argued that the bridge couldn’t be built across a 6700 ft. strait, which had swirling tides and currents with 372 ft of water deep, at the center of the channel with strong winds all the time. The bridge’s total length is 8981 ft, about 1.7 miles. The width is 90 ft, the height is 746 ft and the span is 4200 ft. The deck is 245 feet above water. You hit the water at 75 mph in four seconds They usually don’t die from drowning, they die from hitting the water so hard and so fast.
