Every kid loves staying up late on December 24 and trying to see Santa. Well in Germany on December 6, Santa comes to your house to check on your behavior, then children must sing a song to Santa to show their skill. Germany is located in Europe, its capital is Berlin and is home to one of the most powerful symbols of the cold war, the Berlin Wall. Germany has unique qualities such as its geography, history, culture, economy, and its current events.

After World War 1 Germany was very poor, they started to listen to a man who promised to restore their nation pride and empire named Adolf Hitler. In 1933 Hitler led Germany into World War II. The war spread to about every country, and killed 6 million people, especially the people Hitler didn’t like. When the war finally ended in 1945 almost all of Germany was distorted(Culturegrams). On August 13, 1961 East Germany began to build a barbed wire and concrete between the East and West. The Berlin wall didn’t come down until November 9, 1989.(Berlin Wall).

Guten Tag, that means hello. Germans speak German, but with different dialects, which makes people from northern Germany have a hard time understanding people from southern Germany. When writing in German all nouns must be capitalized, even if it's in the middle of a sentence(Culturegrams). There president is Joachim Gauck and their head of government is Chancellor Angela Merkel. Germany is a federal republic. Most Germans are Catholic. Germans love rich, hearty cuisine, each area of Germany has their own traditional meat. Pork, beef and chicken are very popular meats, they also eat Bratwurst which is sausage, some other foods they eat are cabbage, beets, turnips, potatoes and sauerkraut, and bread Germans love their bread(Zimmermann, Ann). Women’s traditional clothing is a close fitting bodice combined with different color aprons. Sometimes it is worn sleeveless, with a blouse, or a high hat. Men’s traditional clothing is made out of leather, wool and linen. The short pants are made from leather are worn with rustic shoes and wool socks.
