The goal is to show and inform about this deadly disease, and trigger people to get checked for sickle cell disease. In sickle cell disease the spleen does not perform its job correctly. Which is a problem because the spleen is supposed to purify and filter the blood. Not only is supposed to do that, but also produce white blood cells that fight infection. Therefore sickle cell disease patients are often sick, and obtain dreadful infections. It is highly necessary for a person with splenectomy to take penicillin for this will help with fighting infection.
