I figured college was going to be hard due to the stories I was told by college students. They told me how college professors were ruthless, complicated, and hard to understand. However, my fixed mindset was dramatically turned into a growth mindset after I got comfortable with my class work and professors. For example, high school math was easy and difficult because as I passed on to the next grade, the teachers’ styles changed which caused me to have a difficult time understanding math. To help myself understand math, I asked for extra help and came to the math class on lunch break to get extra practice. Also, my mother helped me by letting me see her textbook from the College Of lake County to prepare myself for college math. Through this practice, I slowly improved and found myself having a growth mindset because the more effort I put into the work the more successful i was becoming. Having a growth mindset is more beneficial to me than having a fixed because I am able to have hope and motivation for the semester, which helps one, me cope with failure and learn from my mistakes. I learned that you have to set terms goals and practice in order to better your education and knowledge which is true because it states that in the “You Can Grow Your Brain” article health and science experience that a person who practice a lot will show a lot of improvement in their education. The brain is like a muscle it grows when you put effort toward the work and use good learning strategies it will become large and
