Globally, glaucoma blindness is becoming an increasingly significant cause of blindness, as the world’s population ages. The epidemiology is estimated 60 million people with glaucomatous optic neuropathy. As the result of glaucoma, there are an estimated more than 8 million people who are legally blind. These numbers are expected to increase to 80 million and 11.2 million by 2020. Although glaucoma seems to be prevented easily comparing to other disease, however, presents perhaps an even greater public health challenge than cataracts: because the blindness it causes is irreversible.

To avoid glaucoma blindness we may consider important elements such as: the advantage of the success stories of Trachoma and onchocerciasis. Considering the alternative
