That is a scene from the movie wolf creek. It is based on the murders committed by Ivan Milat with that scene in particular being inspired by the paralysing spinal wounds that each of his victims were found with. Milat is serving 7 consecutive life sentences at the Goulbourn Supermax prison, for the torture and murder of 7 backpackers found in the Belangalo state forest between 1992 and 1993. Since Milat went to prison he hasn’t been any better behaved.…

I, Howard Davis, on 07/21/1922 received a call to the valley of ashes reference to the murder of Myrtle Wilson. My investigation revealed the following information. The incident occurred a hot summer afternoon in front of the Wilson’s car shop located in the valley of ashes near New York City and the resort villages of East and West Egg on the North Shore of Long Island. There were multiple complaint calls stating that a young woman was ran over by a car. As I approached the scene I observed there were multiple people surrounding a body that was motionless on the roadway.…

In the Mystery Cemetery excavation, all attributes and artifacts are greatly interconnected and useful in order to form logical inferences and observations regarding age, sex, and status. Quick assumptions from individual artifacts would be impossible seeing that one object leads to another, which then correlates to my conclusions for every grave site. The most important grave site that allows all of my observations to be plausible is Burial 10. Because of Burial 10, I am able to determine the sex and status of each burial. Differentiating between age is a matter of skeleton size and its correlation with the type of artifact each are buried with.…
Hannah Mary Tabbs and George Wilson were accused guilty of the merciless murder of Wakefield Gaines, which surfaced a multitude of testimonies and confusion in their justice system leading to a significantly long trial. A freshly slaughtered torso of human remains found in Eddington lead to a shocking and brutal murder case. Kali Nicole Gross argues that Hannah Mary Tabbs manipulated ideas of race and gender throughout the case, Tabbs had the ability to do this successfully because she understood how society functioned and what people wanted to hear as well as what was expected from a woman like herself. The murder of Wakefield Gaines was first discovered by Silas Hibbs, who discovered a “headless, limbless torso of a man” within a bulky brown paper wrapping nearby the river.7-8 The following people who arrived thought it was medical waste that the package contained improperly disposed medical waste.…
The African Burial Ground also known as the “Negroes Burial Ground,” is home to more than 400 plus remains of freed and enslaved African-Americans. In 1991, a building projected unearthed the remains of these Africans beneath a parking lot just two blocks north of New York’s City Hall, bringing the colonials city’s lost African Burial Ground to the attention of the World [1]. Once the site was discovered and announced to the public, African leaders made their presence known by bring the excavation to halt and eventually taking it over. They felt as if the archeologist assigned to this excavation were to be of African descent. Only blacks would appreciate and be delicate when uncovering these grave sites, they would cherish the moments as they…
Everyone will have a final resting place unique to them whether they get buried or cremated. Some people will be buried alongside their husbands, some beside their parents or perhaps even their kids, but others are buried alone. Their loved ones are a mystery, as is their identity. These are the “Unknowns.” Collected altogether in one cemetery are Unknowns from World War I, World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War (Arlington National Cemetery).…
3.4 Ritual Practice, Symbolism, and Folklore According to Bell (1992, p. 92), "people engage in ritualization as a practical way of dealing with some specific circumstances". When it comes to death, not only is there a corpse to attend to, but also the emotional implications of mortality which arise because of the death. That is when ritual comes into play. In the presence of death, ritual becomes action which brings structure and meaning to existence (Nilsson Stutz 2003, p. 56).…

The short story, “A Story about the Body,” seems to be about how people look to other’s exterior appearances to love an individual, however that is not necessarily the case. Depending on whose lens one chooses to view the events through, there are many takes on the true meaning of the short story but personally the one take that seems true of both characters revolves around insecurities with physical bodies. “A Story about the Body” does truly give the reader much to mull over with regards to emotions and analysis of both the painter’s body and the composer’s reaction and behavior towards her body. Robert Hass transforms a simple, boy-likes-girl setting into a complex and sensitive situation in so few words. For example, the young…
