Colorectal cancer is a type of cancer that occurs in the colon or rectal. Depending on where the cancer starts, it can be diagnosed as just colon cancer or rectal cancer. These cancers are very similar so they are often talked about as one. Colorectal is the third most common cancer for both men and women, not including skin cancers, although men have a slightly greater chance. Growth on the inner lining of the colon/rectum are called polyps. When these polyps become cancerous is when you would get diagnosed as having colorectal cancer.
