The Aztecs lived in central Mesoamerica in the Valley of Mexico on a lake called Lake Texcoco. The capital of the Aztec Empire was located on an island on Lake Texcoco called Tenochtitlan. The climate where they lived was very hot, it was an average of 80 degrees everyday and in the winters it was cold and the snow runoff from the mountains would feed into the lake.

By the 1500s the Aztecs Empire started to grow and expand because they were conquering more land from other people near them.
