Family: how far would a person go to stay loyal to them? Would she do anything for them such as break the law or go as far to risk her own life? Or, would she not care and only focus on that helping them would get her in trouble? Would losing her life be worth her burying her brother? In the story Antigone the main character Antigone probably thought about these things as she was making very important decisions. The most important decision that Antigone made was choosing her family over the law which in the end would cause her to lose her life. One of her recognitions were when she realizes that she is going to die and that it is her fault and she can’t stop it. As it says on page #130 sentence 2 as her and Ismena are talking she says “Your choice was to live, mine to die.” What she is saying her is that she is having a recognition that she is going to die and there is nothing that she will be able to do about it.
Another thing that that lead to the killing of Antigone was excessive pride. She basically thought that she could bury her brother against the law and nothing would happen but turned she was wrong. Page #119 “I will go heap the earth above the brother whom I love.” Where she is pretty much saying is she will go forth and chose her own destiny. So she thought dying wasn’t a big deal until she realized she actually was going to die.
Also her fate was greater than she deserved. She buried her brother and was killed. Is that really fair burying a dead family member for death? It’s really also she never really buried him she buried him and he was dug back up then she was killed. That is not a very fair death the least that Creon could have done was let her go but she was killed and that was her
