Report Cards: A Narrative Fiction

"But I don't want go, Mom!" I screamed.

I'm not that person to do anything fun or interesting. The most interesting thing I've done is laugh so hard, snot came out of my nose. I am currently arguing with my mom, she's telling me I don't go outside much. It's true, my bed is my home.

After a few seconds, my door busts open with a frustrated mom scolding me.

"Ava Noelle, you are going to the mall with me, and that's FINAL. And besides, where is your report card?"

I quickly get up from the hills of sheets, trying to avoid the conversation about my report card. I have a 25 in my English class, okay?

"Okay, whatever, whatever. I'm coming. Get out so I can get ready," I roll my eyes.

I apply some light makeup and tie my hair into a messy bun.

Why not spend them on concert tickets?" I protest after seeing some fancy shoes on display.

We continue to walk around the mall with my mother walking behind us.

"Have you ever wondered what life would be like if we personally knew 5SOS or 1D?" I say my thought out loud.

Marisol gives me a confused look and replies, "Uh, fanfics. Duh?"

"True, true," I concur with her.

"But really, that'd be ama-" I was cut off by hearing screaming at the other end of the mall, followed by a loud noise.

Marisol grabs me by my arm, pulling me in close. "What the hell was that?" she asked, her fear clear in her voice.

My mom rushes towards us and we head to the nearest department store. After a few moments, the noise booms again, only louder. We have no idea what it is, but all we know is to get away from it. I look around the store and see everyone has left, which probably means we should too.

I quickly glance around the store and see a vent behind a plant. Are we really about to do this? Better escaping than facing the problem. Haha, that's what I do with everything.

Without hesitating, I grab my mom's and Marisol's arms and bolt to the vent. "Okay, I don't know what's happening and I bet it's not good, but we're going to have to go through the vents," I

Today is going to be just like any other day, I sketched in my morning journal. The morning Baltimore sun shone past the skyscrapers of downtown, and light protruded through the silk blinds that covered half of the picture window in my room. I rose up from my queen bed. The sheets had become untucked and the comforter lay halfway off the edge. My back rested against the mahogany headboard with my head fitting perfectly between two of the wooden posts.…
