We are affected by the Renaissance today We are affected by the Renaissance today. I believe we are affected by the Renaissance today in many different areas. Some of these areas are banking, art and literature. The main area where we see the most influence of the renaissance time period is banking. During the 14-16th centuries there were great changes in the financial state of Europe. One of the most important changes is the development of the banking system. Giovanni di Bicci de' Medici developed the banking industry in Florence by loaning money to the middle class entrepreneurs. He would then charge interest on these loans. During the renaissance art was a very important piece of the culture. If you were a good artist you could make lots of money and become well know throughout the country. Some of the major paintings took months or even years to complete. This caused some artists trouble. The renaissance time period was a time of great exploration and new artists. Some of these well known artists were Leonardo Da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Raphael. Leonardo Da Vinci painted the Mona Lisa which has hung at the Louvre Museum in Paris since 1797. It is now reported to be the most valued painting in the world with insurance estimates around $760 million. Michaelangelo is best known for his sculpture David. The marble statue weighs almost 6 tons and is among the most well known statues in the world. Raffaello Sanzio da Urbino was well known for his painting and architecture skills. One of his well known paintings is Urbino. This was a painting of christ supported by two
