The Development of the Semi-Modern Man The Renaissance man helped move along modern society and made a difference in how the world was viewed by different people. The Middle Ages was the time period in which led to the Renaissance. The Middle Ages was a clergy based society and much was controlled by the church, as well as how the world was explained. “The art and literature that existed focused on Jesus Christ and sin”(background 435). About 100 years before the start of the Renaissance, we start to see the things that led up to it.
