Remorse: a gnawing distress arising from a sense of guilt for past wrongs. To simplify, a feeling of being sorry for doing something bad or wrong in the past, a feeling of guilt. Many try to avoid this feeling, but are unsuccessful. It is a feeling that tells you, you crossed a line or have done something wrong. Almost everyone feels this, it's not an choice. There are few who do not feel remorse, such as sociopaths. Another apparent example being the 'Soc's'. Countless times throughout the book, we are told the extend of the damage they cause along with the fear they instill.
