Education in the faith is found throughout the Bible. In the Old Testament, we find many examples of God teaching his people. For instance, in the book of Genesis God teaches Adam and Eve about creation and how they are going to take care of the earth and all what it contains. in the book of Exodus, we see that God teaches his people through the Decalogue and the laws that he gives his people in order to help them form their hearts and minds. In addition, through his prophets, God also taught his people throughout the years.

During my conversation with Donna, a point that was highlighted was the lack of Mass attendance by part of students and parents. One of the possible causes of this is that the education was poor and consisted mainly on memorizing prayers and rules, but those people never had an encounter with Jesus Christ. Therefore, today they do not see the Church or their faith as something important in their lives. Society today is moving toward ways that are away of the Church’s teachings. These children probably feel they are living in a contradictory situation because what they see in society is different to what their Church is trying to teach them. This happens precisely because they do not go deeper and their faith and remained in Church just for tradition, but not for personal conviction. This situation creates new challenges to the Church who must do something. In M5, I highlighted the fact that school and church are very related and both of them can do a great job that will benefit them. God is the one who teaches his people through the ministers that he has disposed to achieve the goal of people educated in their faith. However, it is a responsibility of everyone who has receive Jesus Christ in their livres to teach others about their faith.
