There are many types of beliefs that provide an answer to the meaning of life. Not all of these beliefs are described as religions, but the majority of them are. Because of this it is very important for people to truly understand how the different types of religions answer the big questions in life. Below is an analysis of religion, and how the many types of religion provide a distinctive answer to the human search for the meaning of life, including an extensive definition of religion, how religion answers life’s big questions and why religion is so attractive to humanity.

These questions are ‘is there a supreme being?’, ‘who am I?’, ‘why is there pain and suffering?’ and ‘is there life after death?’ Christians believe that there is a supreme being. He is referred to in many forms: (most popularly) God, Yahweh, and Jehovah etc. He is the creator of the universe and He created humans in His image. Christians gain their identity (the answer to the question ‘who am I?’) from their religion and their God. For Christians the answer to the question ‘why is there evil and pain and suffering?’ is that those three horrible things are the products of sin and temptation created by Satan. Sin is the separation of God, and Satan tempts humans to sin to separate them from God. Christian’s beliefs, concerning life after death, are dependent on which denomination you follow. For myself, I am part of the Seventh Day Adventist denomination. The Seventh Day Adventists believe and teach that when someone dies, it’s like they’re sleeping in the ground. When Jesus comes back for the second coming He will call all the dead out of their graves and they will have replenished bodies and rise to the heavens and live with Him
