Relationships Should Look Like Based On Esther's Life

Improved Essays
In this essay I am writing about what a relationship should look like. It should be centered around God and should model what relationships look like based on the Bible. It should correspond with Biblical teaching.

What should a relationship look like based on Esther’s life? Esther was chosen by a king in a contest to be his wife and it says that “the King loved Esther more than all the women” Esther 2:17. Now because he loved her and was so happy to marry her that he held a great feast for others, took away taxes and gave gifts with great generosity. The love the king had for Esther made him a better, more generous person. This is what should come out of a relationship. Both people should be drawn to becoming better whether that

Verse 11 says “therefore encourage one another and build one another up just as you are doing.” Paul made this fairly simple; when we are interacting with others we should encourage them. This would apply to a relationship with a girlfriend, father, brother, friend and anyone else. When in a dating relationship you should encourage your significant other and everyone else. Verse 12 says something similar saying we should respect those who work among us. We are to encourage and respect everyone. Verse 13 says to show lots of love. Verses 14-19 continue to describe the ways we should treat others and the things we are to do. We are to help, encourage, and to rejoice always and pray without ceasing. Since we are to pray without stopping, we should pray together in a relationship, and pray for the other person in the relationship. It says further on that we are to give thanks in everything and ends by saying we should not quench the Spirit. In whatever we do in a relationship, we are to leave room for the Lord to …show more content…
For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up!” Entering a relationship is as much about me finding someone who will pick me up when I’m down as being there to pick someone else up when she is down. In a relationship you should each be continually building one another up. In Ecclesiastes 4:12 it says: “And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him-a threefold cord is not quickly broken.” A relationship creates this metaphorical rope. When in a relationship it should create a bond between both people. This bond should be strong because when one person has a strong relationship with Christ they are tested in their faith often. When two people create a relationship centered on Christ who is the third bond in the relationship, they will be tested more than just one. When Satan sees this kind of relationship, he will hate it and want to destroy it. Therefore it is important that both people stand fast and rely on God’s word to carry both of us through

In the book, “The Irresistible Revolution,” the main idea of the book was how to live a “true Christian lifestyle” which is based off of loving all of God’s humans, Christian or not, as well as God’s environment. In our class discussion of chapters one and two, a recurring idea is how some people who consider themselves Christians in church can act like good and righteous people helping others on Sundays, then turning around on Mondays and blowing off everyone else, just as long as they get the name of being a Christian in a church, rather than living and following the true Christian ways. In this book, the author also discussed that is some situations, you can find more people who live a Christian life lifestyle in a sewer than in a church.…

C.S. Lewis, in Mere Christianity, discusses love throughout but particularly in chapters six, seven, and nine. Lewis talks about how Christians are to practice love through marriage, through forgiving, and through charity. By discussing how Christians are to practice love in these three sense, he also gives a picture of what love/Christ-like love is in his view. His view is different in many ways from other popular secular and religious depictions of love. His love is different than just being in love, specifically within marriage.…

Little admits that commitment, trust, and eventually failure of healthy relationships. If people happen to commit to no commitment then their actions fall into the seat of nihilism. Nihilism is a philosophy that is described as “no absolute truth, no absolute judgments, because there is no objective reality in which such absolutes could be rooted” (Hauser 7). Furthermore, this belief lies far away from Christianity, which then does follow a straight path to a final destination in the kingdom of God. I believe that a Christian who follows this path of truth could never practice nihilism.…

Thomas Aquinas said: “There is nothing on this earth more to be prized than true friendship”. Aquinas suggests that relationships are the most important thing in life. To be in a good relationship means that you have achieved the best part of life. John Steinbeck reinforces this idea. In the novella “Of Mice and Men”, Steinbeck reveals that everyone needs to be involved in some kind of relationship to be able to live properly.…

“Sacred Search” Allana Dorsett FACS 205-001 Liberty University Sacred Search Summary Gary Thomas’ book “Sacred Search” explains that a person should consider the reasons for wanting to get married more so than who they marry. He elaborates on why men and women choose to marry, as well as the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of both in a marriage relationship. One of the great feats of Thomas’s book is that he details a biblical argument to destroy the notion that there is one potential spouse for each person. He explains that yes, God does sometimes lead some to people to each other, but a majority of people have absolute free will to decide who they will marry.…

Love: the predominant reason for matrimony in the present day. Or as the Oxford Dictionary defines it: “A strong feeling of affection and sexual attraction to someone”.1 Chaucer’s tales, whether original or translated, walk the reader through themes of religion, folly, greed, sexuality, and among others, love while on a pilgrimage to Canterbury.2 The incomplete collection of twenty-four tales has survived since the late 1400’s. And notably, though not exclusively, the author used those tales containing marriage to highlight the incompatibility of power and love in romantic relationships. Though marriage today has as its idealistic foundation profound sensations of love, such was not always the case. During the Middle Ages and even well into…

Shakespeare uses some relationships between characters, such as the relationships that Lady Capulet and the Nurse share with Juliet, to give social commentary on the Elizabethan society. He also used relationships to highlight his key themes, such as the relationship between Romeo and Juliet proving that true love is uncontrollable. The relationship between Lady Capulet and Juliet is used to show how family members tended to be distant from each other. This is shown in the utterance “what say you?…

The topic of marriage is a particularly relevant topic for me currently. One of our church leaders was divorced last year due to infidelity on the part of his spouse. This week, it was brought to the church’s attention that he is choosing to remarry and being a leader and elder of the church this has led to a lot of debate. The important thing we can do when there is a debate of this manner is to turn to the Bible to learn what it says. Paul’s stance was if you can go without being married, then it would be better for you if you could do so.…

The Horizontal Dimensions of the Church is the side to side relationship and how we are connected to one another as fellow Christians and according to Mueller, “unless we belong to him and believe in him, we are not part of the church.” (p. 233) we might be Christians, however without the horizontal we will not be the church or be able to carry out the tasks placed before us by God. The Vertical Dimensions of the Church is the up and down relationship between the Church and God and according to Mueller, “unless we belong to him, and believe in him, we are not part of the church.” (p. 233) in other words without the vertical relationship, the church becomes a social club or organization. These two dimensions are important in our understanding…
