The article talks about the relationship between the knowledge management (KM) process and the supply chain performance.
Moderators that were considered for the empirical study are - information technology/information system (IT/IS) support, supply chain integration, and supply chain strategy. There is a positive moderation of the IT/IS support for the KM process on the supply chain performance. To scale up operations the IT/IS investments seem unavoidable. It helps improved collaboration between the partners.
The relationship between the KM process and the supply chain performance is not much varied for agile and lean supply chains.
Supply Chain Integration means strategic collaboration for shared responsibility. Sharing …show more content…
(Desouza, 2003). It is considered to be a major enabler of Supply Chain Management and the integrated KM approach can enhance the degree of SCM success. (Samuel, 2011) (Shaw, January 6-9.) (Wadhwa, 2005)
• The KM studies have been done on the intra and inter organizational perspective. But the impact on supply chain performance is not studied majorly. The firm and chain performance outcomes therefore overlap.
• Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) has been employed in this paper to investigate the impact of KM process on Supply Chain Performance based on Supply Chain Operations Reference (SCOR) model.
• Key to superior Supply Chain Performance is the relation between strategy the eight knowledge elements the include memory, tacitness, accessibility, quality, use, intensity, responsiveness, and learning capacity.
• Decision model developed by Raisinghani and Meade link the knowledge creation, knowledge storage/retrieval, knowledge transfer, and knowledge application to the cost, time, flexibility, and quality as the performance criteria. It helps determine which is the most beneficial process in the development of an Agile Supply Chain.
