I learned a lot about Taiwan’s values. China has strong relations with Taiwan but I never thought it was to the degree which their values are much the same. Also being part Chinese, I’m able understand and connect to many of the values such as the confusion ideal of filial piety which talks about having respect for one’s parents, the opposing forces of yin-yang, and fengshui which a way of looking at things as they flow naturally. In contrast, I can connect to Hawaiian values as since I was grounded in some of them. The Taiwanese values I choose are qi, xiao, yi, backing up words with action, and using food for medicine. The Hawaiian values, I choose are ha, ha’a ha’a, pono, kuleana and māmaki. All of these values compare to many of the values
