After his car exploded, Heydrich managed to get out of the car and shoot back at the assassins before collapsing in the streets. Himmler’s private doctors could not save him. Hitler was very upset that Heydrich was killed and sent the Gestapo and SS to find and murder all Czechs involved or suspected in the murder. The Gestapo murderer about 1000 Czechs and 3000 Jews were also murdered. In addition the village of Lidice was destroyed on the fake charge by Hitler that it helped the assassins.
