Upon my entry into English 1010-02, my first college writing class, I expected to breeze through the course with an easy-A and minimal effort after my successful completion of AP English 11 this past year. I began the year with the utmost confidence in my writing abilities, and believed that my skills were above par. It wasn’t until I received my score on the essay evaluation for my First-Week Essay- a measly five out of twenty- that I realized that this was not the case. At first, I was astonished that my seemingly exceptional writing skills had not earned me the A that I believed I deserved. However, as time went on I came to the realization that I had not put in nearly enough time or effort into the paper to receive more than a C at most.…

When I first started writing, there were only two things that went into mind, giving it my best effort and hoping to get a grade that can satisfy me. Writing wasn’t always my best subject, I usually do pretty good on them at times and of course there are scenarios where it’s the opposite. Whether it came to a writing a persuasive essay or an essay out of the unexpected, such as writing based on a documentary, I felt that it really depends on what the prompt is about that determines how well I will do. Throughout the years, I learn more on how to become a better writer especially a teacher gives feedback on them. There is a topic that I somewhat do not struggle with, but think about when it comes to writing.”…

When it came to assignments I was always the last one to turn in my essays. Google has been always my source of help in writing I searched ‘’how to write effective essays.” Now that I am in college, I took an English summer class and the teacher assigned us to write an essay with the topic of ‘’College Expectations’’.…
