Reflection On My Theory Of Writing

Reflective Essay In this semester in English 180 I have had to write several papers called our writing projects that are supposed to advance our theory of writing and also challenge that theory. We have had several readings also made to shape our writing theory. Our readings were on rhetoric, genre, and discourse community. The writing projects were also meant to shape ideas presented in our readings. In this house we have had are writing theory challenged, as what this Course is meant to do it could be negative or positive depending how you figure it to be. The writings have made me have a good understanding of discourse community in which the readings also help with that. The infographic writing assignment gives me a better understanding of discourse community and evolves my theory of writing because it makes me believe that writing has a purpose. In the infographic it shows me discourse community doing a writing for someone else which evolves my theory of writing as it was previously that writing is useless just something to do in class. When doing my review that shows me genre writing of a particular genre and that is also is showing me writing for other people, writing for a purpose. It was fun to do the review assignment and I felt that it had a reason to do it to have something for anybody to read to decide if they should go see the movie or not. My instruction assignment was another assignment we did. In this assignment we are to make a set of instructions which is boring to read and write, but has use of people even doing a video on a phone is still pretty boring but useful which evolves my writing from writing is useless to writing is useful. This has contributed to my theory of writing because it shows me that writing has a purpose. There is a reason to do specific writings. Doing the infographic showed me that writing for a client which shows a purpose of writing. When writing for a client by composing an infographic it shows me how a discourse community works and our reading also helped me understand it. My understanding of a discourse community has helped my writing theory evolve. I think wring for other people has reasons making posters could be a great example, which I think it is fun to do as it was fun, it get creative when making the infographic for Inter-Hall council that I did for the infographic
