Much Ado About Nothing Play Reflection

Improved Essays
I have never been one for reading much drama, I read a lot more fiction novels than any other form of literature. Rather than dreading jumping into reading drama, I was actually excited to read something different than what I am used to. The drama we read was very interesting to me, I did not believe I was going to get sucked into the story line like I did with the readings we had in class. After reading the pieces of writing assigned, I found myself trying to actually understand the themes the author was trying to present. Watching the actual portrayal of the play, Much Ado About Nothing, it helped me better connect actions in the play with events happening in the writing. Watching the plays, as well as reading them made it easier for me …show more content…
I found this reading more modern and somewhat easier for me to understand. Seeing how the death of something so important to someone can drastically affect someone's mental well-being is saddening and moving. I was able to somewhat relate to what was occuring in Dog Sees God, my experience was related to the death of my great grandparents. My great grandmother died before my great grandfather. Both of them had severe alzheimer’s disease, which made them unable to be with each other for the last years of their lives. After the passing of my great grandmother, it was like my great grandfather realized everything that he had lost. He fell into a deep state of confusion and heartbreak. Seeing what used to be such a strong man, look so beat down and done with life made me question why people let themselves fall in love. Falling in love seemed to always end in pain from my point of view, I did not understand what made love so appealing. I did not stray from this point of view until my great grandfather was on hospice, being visited every day at all hours because no one knew when he was going to go. The one thing my great grandfather said to my grandmother before he died will stick with me forever. He looked her in the eyes and told my grandmother that he was going to see his beautiful wife. That one sentence from my great grandfather’s last days made me realize that love is not painful, love is never ending, it lasts beyond a lifetime. I believe this is the love that CB had for his dog, which made him question not just love but everything else in life as

The language kept me engaged throughout the whole play. I was interested for a majority of the play. I would enjoyed it more had the actors not read from a script. " A series of 10 brief scenes, the script is rich with poignancy, tragedy and humor, qualities that director Nina Lee Aquino's Tarragon production admirably captures," according to NOW Toronto.…

The comical personalities all the characters had helped the audience become more intrigued in the story of this play. From this play, I liked that there was only one actor for each character. The film “Much Ado About Nothing” was written for the screen and directed by Joss Whedon in 2012. William Shakespeare was the one who wrote the play “Much Ado About Nothing” . The film version was a more modern take of the play written by Shakespeare. I do believe that the film did very well in portraying how the characters actions and expression would of been in the written play. The film verizon gave a better understanding of how the characters characteristics would’ve been like.…

At the beginning of the year I started to read The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. At the end of the first quarter I was required to write an info-graphic response. Info-graphics were the first writing style I'd learned this year. To begin my first major writing project I read The Wave and On the Bridge and grabbed some pictures off the internet. I created my second info-graphic based on social conformity similar to my seventh grade project on Stargirl and non-conformity.…

I did not have much knowledge about theatre or drama except that I was aware that Western understanding of theatre originated from the Greeks and they had a tradition of wearing masks to identify with the characters, they are also assumed to be the inventors of tragedies and comedies. I was aware of the Greek tragedy Agamemnon because I read an excerpt of a play named ‘The Browning Version’ in which one of the characters, who is a student, remarks the play as ‘muck’. I read Macbeth by William Shakespeare in 9th grade and I also read a famous play in 10th grade titled ‘Death of a Salesman’ by Arthur Miller, it is known to be one of the most prominent plays in American literature and culture. Although, I have not seen many plays as much as I have read them. The recent play I watched was my high school production of Mary Shelley’s ‘Frankenstein’ which although was a small production, was still…

Intricate details on the scenery made the buildings feel authentic and inviting, grabbing my attention from the moment I walked in the theatre. The costuming was also fantastic, portraying the time period well and adding even more authenticity to the production. All of these individual aspects of a play production acted as an important role, but none of them caught my attention as much as the storyline. I was entwined in the story from the moment the stage lights came on, engulfing myself in the man-made atmosphere presented in front of me. The story went on to tell a tale of a greedy…

GREEK TRAGEDY Καλημερα! Today, I decided to take you on a journey through time and space. If you agree, we are now going to leave Australia and catch a flight whose final destination is Athens in the beginning of the fifth century BC. This century was Athens’ Golden Age: it was a political hegemony (ο ηγεμων, ονος : one who leads) which means supremacy, and its economy was growing, but what I am going to speak about today has to do with Athens’ cultural blossoming. The fifth century was the time of sculptors such as Phidias, ceramics and the theatre, especially tragedy.…

My Experience: A Mid(Winter) Night’s Dream On November 16, 2016 at 8pm, I attended a play entitled A Mid(Winter) Night’s Dream. Since I myself know very little about shakespearean plays, I walked in expecting a dramatic, serious play, but was shook to realize that it was actually a hilarious comedy. I brought a friend to watch the play with me, and even she was saying how much she loved it while walking out of the theatre.…
