Reflective Essay: My Experience At Rutgers University

Rutgers University possesses the ability to both educate me academically and culturally to the world around. Growing up as a latino first generation child has made me feel like I am part of two worlds . I am very proud of my ethnicity and my culture. I am very grateful for my parents because they have overcome many obstacles for me and my sister . Their difficulties due to their lack of college education have showed me the importance of a college background . Also , they have showed me to value hard work and to always appreciate who I am and where I am from . My mother and my father are my role models . They have been working since they were children in their native country and still work hard to make sure me and my sister never have nothing missing . I am only able to talk to them for two hours in the week day because they are either working or at school learning english . After a long day every day after work my father always helps me do my homework with me if I have any .Even though my father had no college experience or a solid education background I consider him as one of the smartest men I have met in my life .His view of life and his life lessons has made me the men I am now.My parents are who I aspire to be one day . These experiences have affected me but I am grateful to have experienced it because it has showed me to more appreciative and to be serious about my education . They have made me a better person and realize how important experience is . They make me want to better myself and be a rolemodel to my cousins who are still in middle school . These experiences will motivate me to strive for success in this prestigious university
