Writing is evolving by the day in the English language, in other words communication is evolving on the daily since writing is our main source of communication. Learning how to write the English language in an academic setting has been one of my greatest accomplishments as a scholar, despite the fact that, I am still learning new skills daily on how to improve my writing. Even though, I am not the best the writer, I have gained enough strength in my writing to separate me from the average writer. In other words, the best way to improve on something is by practicing, and that is a lesson writing papers has taught me. One of my greatest skills as a writer in my opinion is being able to expand on a topic. In other words, I like to elaborate and find the bigger picture of every prompt. Many individuals seek advise from me in their papers to help them come up with something to write. The reason why some of these rules can be discouraging is because the only way one can improve and master these rules is by practicing them. An example of a rule that can be tedious or discoursing is creating a works cited page. A works cited page is an extra page at the end of your paper where you give credit to quotes used in ones paper. At glance a works cited page does not look like a big deal but when I began writing I would constantly forget to include the works cited page hence, making me appear as an inexperienced writer. Not only can writing rules be tedious and discouraging but these rules also separate the experienced writers from the inexperienced.
