One of my favorites saying can be traced to Socrates who submitted that an ‘unexamined life is not worth living’. This holds well for me because I believe it is beneficial to look back once in a while and get some valuable feedbacks from events and happenings in one’s life. Not only that, reflection is linked to the notion of experiential learning which helps in looking at lessons learned from past experiences and proffer different approaches that would bring better results and greater productivity. Also, a study conducted by Giada di Stefano (2014) opined that reflection provides an added advantage for future learning outcomes. In my view, a reflection paper emphases your responses and examination of a major event in certain areas of your life which is what I intend to do with this write up. It helps in confirming if the goals of education are met and provides the forum for decision taking and feed-backs. In essence, assessment is much more than testing and guiding the development of students. It encourages refining educations programs as well as providing an atmosphere of accountability and responsibility. Unfortunately, in today’s society assessment especially in schools have been debased ad related to economic gains which would be one of the things I would love to advocate a change for. Assessment should employ a holistic approach as opposed to what obtains presently. Much emphasis is laid on test scores and funds with little or no recourse to the importance of assessment in effective teaching. The pronounced emphasis laid on test scores have an adverse effect on other components of testing e.g. grading. Most schools grading system had to follow the education governing bodies laid down rule on grading practices without options of modification or proffering alternatives where
