How we handle these situations is what determines the outcome of our lives. First step to a successful EQ is developing and constructive emotional mindset. This starts with the practice of knowing emotions. Building and identifying emotions and how they affect you can help you identify when you are acting on emotion. This can have negative effects when trying to deal with stressful situations. I also need to learn to identify what causes certain emotions in order to be able to control how I will react. Stress is an emotion that can have both positive and negative. Stress can lead to arise in anger, anxiety, and sadness often leading to depression. Although I do not believe that I have been exposed to depression, I have had stress cause anger and anxiety. Easy solutions such as exercising and getting a good night’s sleep can alone help reduce stress. I have always been bad at expressing my emotions so I think that I will take the books advice and look for someone to talk to when I am experiencing stressful emotions and situations. Whether it is a counselor, a teacher, or a friend just talking to someone can help me blow off steam and get helpful advice of what to do next.
