The experiences I have gained through this internship have various underlying relationships with marketing concepts. For the purposes of this paper, I will be focusing on the predominant marketing concepts prevalent to the myriad projects I worked on throughout this semester. These concepts consist of SWOT analysis, customer relationship management and targeting, branding and co-branding, awareness, as well as mass marketing.
SWOT Analysis
During the course of my internship, I was asked to perform a couple SWOT analyses on ABC of NC’s networking tables community/career fair in the community. Branding often involves subliminal teaching and reinforcement of a message an organization intends to portray with an image or product. Through social media, ABC of NC aimed to give their logo meaning by implementing the hashtag #TodayAtABCofNC. This social media effort was applied to let all followers into ABC of NC by capturing moments that happen throughout the day. These moments could range from internship/volunteer visitations, curriculum, in-kind donations, field trips etc. This allows for potential donors, as well as, current donors to see who and what their donations supports, in addition to, building awareness in the community and developing/reinforcing the intended message. This also relates to marketing because branding encourages engagement and potential interest in an organization and further securing a positive association in the mind of the intended consumers. Many of my social media efforts pertain to branding by using social media efforts to familiarize the community with ABC’s logo, which is crucial to ABC of NC due to low brand awareness from the local and surrounding communities. Branding could also be seen through all of the details used to help shape the guest’s perceptions of ABC of NC at annual and capital campaign fundraisers. Through implementing this throughout my internship, I gained a better understanding of business relations and the importance of connecting with other similar brands to further reinforce a message, especially when the brand is well known. Thus helping achieve necessary growth for increased profits. Co-branding could be seen through the many collaborations ABC of NC implemented this semester. These collaborations consist of SPARK, Autism Speaks, and the local Lowe’s
