At the beginning of this semester, the only thing I knew about Africa is that their skin color is black and there are many starving children. That is all I knew about Africa. Now that this semester is coming to an end, I have gain so many new knowledge about Africans. I have learnt about Africa’s countries, history, culture, economic and religions. Africa has the richest natural resources in the world. By right, they should be enjoying the wealth that these resources brings. However, they are living the complete opposite life. They are the poorest and people are dying of hunger. I believe that the primary causes of this chronic poverty in Africa is the colonialism. European has conquered Africa countries and mark them as their territory.

I do not think that the international community should donate money to Africa because their corrupt leaders will end up taking all the money for their own interest instead of for their people. Donating objects is a more reliable way to help them. I have saw many images of staving African children with tattered clothes and some do not even have clothing. It is really sad when I see these pictures because they are so little and they have to experience the pain from hunger. Compared to us, we have never worried about being hungry or not having clothes to wear. They need have a healthy body so that they can grow up and make their country a better place. The history of Africa also reminds me of the three kingdom of China (25AD-28AD). A huge territory with many diversity groups of people, speaking different languages. Three kingdom (Wei, Shu, and Wu) tried their best to conquer one other. Finally, Wei defeat them and Qin became the first king of the China. It is also the first time to unify China territory and everyone speaks the same language. Africa has 54 countries and 1500-2000 languages, but they got conquer by outsiders. They cannot be united because of the culture and religion gap between them. For China, no matter how corrupted the government is, the money will still remain in China. For Africa, profit only goes to European and African will have to continue living in the poor environment. If they can unify earlier and fight against colonialism, I believe that there will be less people dying and African can also have a better life than right
