Reflection On My Independent Senior Project

Decent Essays
My Independent Senior Project will educate the sacredness of certain Hindu dwellings. I will create a website on the rituals that occur in these treasured places and also inform people why these places are very holy towards Hindu's. This project will contain two products- a fully researched and documented informational presentation that explains the background of the sanctified environments and rituals that take place. Secondly, I will create a website with pictures and historical information and opinions from Hindu’s who would like to visit. Travel information from certain places to these destinations and flights that will go there. Also a calendar of Holidays and a brief description of them and fun facts.

According to Jane McCarthy graduate of University of Nevada she states, “Indigenous peoples are spoken for, not spoken with, in regard to their dreams for the education of their children” (p. 123). In twenty years, as a board member of a scholarship selection committee, I would award the 17-year-old me a scholarship not because I am simply answering the prompt in my favor, but because I know that the 17-year-old me's dream is to go to college to gain a higher education and has made learning a high priority since elementary school. The 17-year-old me is determined, hard-working, and understands the struggle of having little money, so I would know that the scholarship would not go to waste; she would use it so that her parents can ease their worry about how she is going to go to college, since they are not able to make any contributions. Knowing that her family earns little income, she has spent most of her high school years dedicating her time to her schoolwork, hoping that she would be qualified to earn scholarships during her senior year. During the other majority of her time, she has volunteered for over 300 hours at various locations and participating in school clubs and activities.…

My senior project was just another step to the legacy that I have implemented in Warren County. Thinking back to freshman year, senior project seemed so boring and far away. I never would have imagined the progress and success I've had with my senior project. My interest has stayed the same but I wouldn't think that I would have County Commissioners and a House of Representative present at my event.…

It was April 15th, 2013 and I was the 15-year-old, innocent sophomore with a perfect record, sitting in the principal’s office waiting for my punishment. I plastered a fake smile on my bright red face, trying not to let the tears filling my blue eyes get the best of me. My mom always used to tell me that I should rule a small country one day, and I would look at her and say, “What? You don’t think I can handle the world?”.…

In this class I learned about how to be a better team member. This semester I was reminded of how important communication is and how people need to keep emphasizing it as one of the most important skills any person could possesses. My project began as a way for me to give back to the community in a way in which I could use my strengths to inspire and teach. Some of the reasons why I began my journey here at J. K.
