From the discussion with the hospital management and engineers, I determined that they are mainly concerned about three factors: 1. Bacteria development in the taps/mixers, 2. Patients health and hygiene 3. Water efficiency. I asked for a general layout as well as the plumbing and piping layout or plan for the hospital building to check all the areas. The plan consisted of four levels with a similar pattern of washrooms and toilets except for the ground floor. I then conducted a walkthrough to all the areas and was accompanied by one of the engineers.

The study provides advice on what action to take regarding plumbing systems when healthcare facilities become contaminated with Pseudomonas Aeruginosa. I also reviewed standards for water and sanitation such as National Sanitation Foundation (NSF), Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC), International Plumbing Code (IPC), Water Regulations Advisory Services (WRAS) and TMV3 scheme. I also reviewed ADA guidelines which have specific accessibility regulations for disabled people. I prepared detailed technical specifications keeping in mind the industry standards and client …show more content…

This gave me a chance to develop and use my enterprise and business management skills. After completing all my recommendations, I discussed with the Vice Executive Officer to finalize the submittal. My recommendations were approved and I submitted our proposal to the

I feel that this is an experience that every student in healthcare should go through. One of the most important observations that I made concerns the various procedures of preventing infections in the operating room. The prevention majorly focuses on the patient, especially when considered the patient has open sounds during the operating process. At times, the practitioners tend to forget the importance of cleaning their hands with soap and water or with alcohol-based cleaners when interacting with the environment (Scott, Earl, Leaper, Massey, Mewburn, Williams, 1999). Notably, the assumption that the practitioner does not need to clean hands simply because they have gloves is misplaced, and it is often overlooked (Weber, Anderson, &Rutala, 2013; Karki& Cheng, 201)).…

The case study emphasis (operations and management requirements) was appropriate, but incomplete and non-functional for the goal of assessing and determining hospital design.…

Through the use of disinfection methods in drinking water, there is a likelihood of diminished risk of microbes within the drinking water throughout communities. Exposing consumable water to hazardous chemicals does not come without complications; there is an inherent risk in the formation of disinfection by-products (Serrano et al., 2011). These disinfection by-products are the result of disinfection chemicals coming into contact and reacting with natural organic matter (Bougeard et al., 2010).…
