During the first semester in Nazarbayev University Foundation Year Program we had many new subjects, activities, laboratory works, assignments, presentations and tutorials. They were very exciting, interesting and amazing. On the other hand, some activities were hard. Some of assignments were memorable. For instance, group presentation which was in English for Academic Purposes subject. This presentation had it’s interesting and amazing parts and difficulties. Personally for me, group presentation was one of the most difficult assessments in the first semester. I worried about this assessment because group presentation was something new for me. In the group presentation, we were divided into small group of three or four people.

Groups had to organize their presentations very well, use body language, make good reference list, inform their presentations to audience very well, use slides and make great summary and conclusion to get excellent mark. Students could use notes that help to remember information about their topics. Every student needed to speak for approximately five minutes. Our group had three members. I the beginning we thought that talking five minutes was very hard. While doing practice we recognized that five minutes was not so long. Group presentation was great assignment. This assignment had positive and negative elements. Students learned how to work in group. Students gained experience of how to make a presentation, how to speak during the presentation, how to make notes, how to perform themselves while presenting the presentation. On the other hand, in my opinion, doing the presentation was very nervous work because it was hard to collect members of our group together. Sometimes one member could not come to practice, sometimes another member could not. Another negative element was choosing topic because three members of my group had three different ideas. It was hard to choose one topic that every member of our group likes. Experience that we gained
