The first presentation discussed how racism and slavery came about in our country via conquest and war. It then progressed into how Whites are given more opportunities and how they are accessible to multiple resources as opposed to people of color as such as African-Americans and Hispanics. The second presentation discussed how America has a melting-pot culture. Several Hispanic customers blatantly ignored me because I was Black, although I spoke their language. Several Black customers talked down to me because I’m young and generalized me as a typical young person in today’s awful generation. Several other Black customers wouldn’t allow me to help and service them because I wasn’t “looking out” and sticking together because “the prices in here are expensive.” I felt like a slave. I hated this job. I feel as though the only good thing about this job opportunity was that it opened me up to the workforce in general and allowed me to learn part of another
