For me, I want to be an influential figure in whatever field I work in. This includes being a role model and being easy to work with. The objectives of SLC 101 line up nicely with that goal and will help me grow to be able to achieve it. I believe the relational leadership model is one that will fit with my personality well. My approach to working with people is getting to know them and being friendly when attempting to solve problems together. The university setting has helped me realize that I’m adept at making “study buddies” in classes that I can discuss the material with in and out of the classroom. This skill can be taken to a workplace or anywhere else. When the stakes are set and a common goal is needed to be reached, I will put everything on the line and relate myself with my teammate or peer. Connecting this to the SLC course will allow me to expand upon this quality, making my sociability skills even stronger. These “soft” skills can be used anywhere in life. So far in college, I’ve already seen a growth in reaching out to people and making friends. I can only see this grow even more as I aim to become a stronger leader. On top of this, I will be able to solidify my ethics and morals through the exploration and selfassessment parts of the class.
