Experiencing Literature Reflection Paper

Experiencing Literature is a foundational core class that few students may believe is unnecessary towards their major and ultimately useless. Those few students cannot be more wrong in their perception of EN-201. The course is an introduction to literature, which from there we are able to understand the readings and further discover their important features, functions, and possible meanings. The people who consider a foundational core class, not-related to their major, are simple minded and do not understand the concept of developing important characteristics. Through the material discussed in class, the biggest thing that I learned during the class, was how important it is to have the skills that Experiencing Literature requires a person to have. All of which, will assist us in achieving further academic and work related goals. Public Speaking is not a comfortable thing for most people, as it is the second most popular phobia. In the class, we were required to step outside of our comfort zones and give a presentation to the rest of the class. A presentation in which note cards were not allowed, forcing us to remember our information, and strengthening our presentation skills. Presentation skills are important skills to have as almost every profession will force a worker to speak publicly at one point. For instance, working for KMPG, a big four accounting firm, will require you to provide semester updates; where a formal presentation to the board is required. In addition to that, teachers are one of the most influential professions when it comes to public speaking.
