One of the big ones would be the use of Petra. She was used more as a teacher, friend, and later a rival in the book, while in the movie her role was more constant as a companion. This hurts the movie by making the characters less dynamic. This in turn weakened the tension and story. Another continuity error was that the movie completely left out Valentine and Peter’s roles of Demosthenes and Locke respectively. This two personas added an insight to the urgency of Ender’s mission and the state that the Earth was in, Divided and preparing for

Ender’s Game Adaptation Movie Review Gavin Hood’s Adaptation of Orson Scott Card’s Ender’s Game is an adventurous thrill ride. Ender Wiggin played by Asa Butterfield, is a third that was not really appreciated for being the third child in his family, a third that ended up being a successful recruit for the Battle School, where Ender is being pushed to his breaking point with all of the lies they are feeding him. It seems this movie took a lot of time and effort to create, with all of the scenes and technology upgrades. This movie is a good adaptation to the book because it brings all of the action moments in the book to the screen.…

How would you feel if you were approached at random in your own home to go to a place where each day you’d be fighting for your life? Well, this was what happened to Ender Wiggins. Ender’s Game is a science fiction story focusing on battles between different armies throughout space. It leads to a search for different soldiers all trying for one ultimate goal: beating the returning champions, the “Buggers.” When looking at both the film and the novel, in my opinion, the book was superior.…

Ender’s Game is a 1985 military sci-fi novel written by Orson Scott Card, and like other novels, is accommodated by various themes and motifs. In this essay, I will cover one of the motifs that have been sited in the novel—games. In the novel, there are five games in total (excluding the one in the novel’s title): the Mind Game (also known as the Fantasy Game, or the Giant’s Drink), the Game and Battle Room, the simulator in Eros, and the game of “Astronauts and Buggers” that Peter and Ender play practically at the opening of the novel. These games have one thing in common—they are all played by Ender, and are all won by Ender (except for “Astronauts and Buggers”).…

Buggers in Ender’s Game plays a major part of the novel’s plot. The characters, setting and plot revolve around the ploy to develop children to become soldiers to kill the buggers when they attack. The paranoia is what makes the story revolve around a child named Ender Wiggin, who was allowed to survive because he was the perfect combination of his siblings, Peter and Valentine. Ender’s balanced personality is what will make him the perfect commander to kill off the buggers. What if the buggers never enter earth and killed off three thousand people?…

The novel Enders Game by Orson Scott Card tells the story of a young boy, Ender Wiggin, who is believed to be the only person capable of saving the human race. As the book progresses, the characterization of not only Ender, but also his siblings Peter and Valentine, are very thoroughly developed. The complete reason Ender’s parents were requisitioned to have another child was the hope that he would be the perfect mix of his siblings; not overly aggressive like Peter, but also not exceedingly compassionate like Valentine. Despite being the international fleet’s (I.F.) definition of the perfect blend of his sibling’s character traits, he also has many of his own unique characteristics that expand as the book continues.…

“Ender kills Stilson and Bonzo without realizing that he has done it… but in physical struggles he lashes out with a fear-driven response that is beyond his control, a cyclone so violent that he does not even see the results and only suspects them” (Kelly 2-3). Ender struggled with the idea that he was becoming like his brother Peter, and he despised that about himself. Ender had Peter’s ruthlessness and cruelty as well as Valentine’s sympathy which conflicted him because he wanted to do the right thing but sometimes it was hard for Ender. Kelly saw that when Ender was faced in a situation and had to fight he killed or injured his enemies and did not even realize it, nor have control over it. It contributed to the theme because Ender wanted to be good but the outcome of his actions were not always…
