This corporation teamed up with the Hudson County Department of Corrections (HCDOC), the New Jersey Department of Family Services, the Jersey City Employment and Training Program, and the Integrity House; where services like substance abuse treatment are provided. According to HCDOC, "the need for addiction treatment and successful return to society would result in improved public safety." This program has been funded by the Federal Second Chance Act grant to ensure reentry is the main goal and outcome of the program. Upon prisoners' releases, they are unable to find jobs that can allow them to move forward in life and leave their old lives behind. In the case of these two, I have heard clients say how Ms. Muhammad led them the right way and if it were not for her, they would not change their lives. One client in particular, Patrick, told his story about serving 18 years in prison and his battle with addiction and mental health. Patrick explained that Reentry supported him, after the traumatic experience that prison put him through. Patrick said, "Reentry is the BEST thing that ever happened in my life, with the support of my case worker, therapist, and especially Ms. Muhammad. Psychotherapy helped me more than the drugs I was involved with." Another client, Jennifer Naylor, stated, "Being in this program wasn't just looking for a job, the things that they offer, I found myself mentally. I thought, am I going to be the one that had all these things in your life or are you going to be the one to help someone else." Most of the clients discussed the challenges they faced when they were released from prison such as: literacy, providing proper identification and proper health care. Clients often stated that the prison system did not prepare them for the real world at the time of their release.
