From our Reebop lab experiments, I learned how to properly cross the monohybrid and dihybrid crosses. I also learned from those experiments how to determine if a trait is autosomal or sex-linked, based off their phenotypic ratios. If the phenotype shows a 3:1 ratio then the trait is autosomal, and if the phenotype shows a 1:1 ratio then the trait is sex-linked. I also learned from the Reebop lab experiments, that independent assortment occurs in all the crosses. From the data given, I first assumed that all the parent Reebop (P1) traits were autosomal and homozygous. I am conducting this experiment to broaden my knowledge on genetics as a student at Purdue University. I am also conducting this experiment to further my knowledge in biology, so in the future I will be able to teach a more simplified version of genetics to my elementary grade level
