During trail, Warna’s testimony was one of the most important piece of evidence. Because of her analysis explanation, it was said to believe that Ms. Molly Wright was beaten by an object (weapon) with force. According to her testimony, she stated that the blood stains on Hill’s clothing matched the blood DNA from Molly Wright, which was the factor that determined the sentencing and if Mr. Hill was guilty or innocent, which in this case he was guilty. In court, Mr. Hill listed a number of reasons as to why Ms. Wright’s blood was on his clothing, saying he was trying to help her, but when Warna analyzed the pattern of the blood, it showed that the distribution and condition of Wright's blood on Hill's clothing was consistent with repeated blows…

Blood is an important piece of evidence at a crime scene. Blood is used for both DNA evidence and blood typing but blood spatter is just as useful. The diameter of blood drops is used to determine the height from which the blood drops fell and the blood drops shape can be used to determine the angle the blood was dropped at. Blood drops can also be used to determine the cause of death at a crime scene and blood drops can even be used to determine the medium that caused the death at the crime scene (PLTW 2016). Blood drops are also used to determine the bloods point of origin (the location of the blood source (PLTW 2016)).…

In High School we were sadly not taught about the May 4th shooting and as a High School history teacher that is something that I want to teach my students because it is such a big thing. At DKS is the first time I actually heard the story. A boy was very knowledgeable on the topic. I was told that the US guardsmen shot and killed 4 people and 1, a girl, was simple walking to class. He told us that prior to this date that there was ruckus due to a biker gang and they threatened a guardsmen and the guardsmen thought it was one of the students, however, at the May 4th center I learn that the guardsmen weren’t even at Kent state yet until after that date.…

The period of c1886-c1926 saw great changes in investigative methods and thus lead to huge development in policing and how crime was dealt with. Such changes include the creation of the CID, and have shown to have more significance than others. For example, the introduction of forensic science enabled police to convict criminals in multiple cases, such as George Joseph Smith and Dr Crippen, rather than the use of telegram which only showed major significance in the Crippen case. A great flaw in 19th century policing regards the very few investigative methods available to detectives at the time.…

As most know, it is taboo to alter a crime scene before it has been processed by appropriate officials. It should always be remembered that each time the body of the decedent is touched or moved, there is a significant possibility that valuable evidence could be lost or contaminated. The Locard’s exchange principle is an idea that whenever someone makes contact with an item, person, or location physical evidence is either taken or left behind, which is then collected and used as forensic evidence. Because the officer touched the revolver with his bare hands, he contaminated the evidence by possibly leaving his hairs, fibers and or fingerprints. At that time, the officer’s prints and hairs should be collected to use as a comparison when the evidence is tested.…

Between the years 2000 and 2013 the amount of deaths by guns in America exceeded the amount of deaths caused by AIDS, drugs, wars, and terrorism combined. Even more shocking than this statistic is how unique this issue is to the United States. In the United States there are 29.7 homicides for every 1 million people. Switzerland, with the second highest rate in the world, has only 7.7. It is not that Americans are just more violent individuals, in fact the US ranks far below first for crimes rates other than gun violence (Lopez).…
