There will be new programs and policies similar to what have been found to work in states in reducing the rate of recidivism. Reentry programs that provide job and educational training to inmates before there release have been found to reduce the rate of recidivism (National Reentry Resource Center, 2014). These programs will become more prevalent within the decade. Correctional facilities will be tasked with preparing inmates to reenter society with a much better chance at being successful outside prison. States will also develop aftercare programs for inmates that provide mental health and substance abuse treatment for inmates that continue after their release from a correctional facility (National Reentry Resource Center, …show more content…
