It is a letter written to give an end for the book and a solution for Holden Caulfield. After He faced many problems in his short life, He decided to kill himself. The purpose is: He is missing his dead brother, Allie; He failed again in school and tried to find his way. It was written from his own point of view with informal language however, with formal resources such as: hyperbole, alliteration and ellipse, which can be seen when some verbs are repeated as: “will finish”, “swear” and “have”; when the pronoun “I” is repeated or when is removed and maximizing small problems. Furthermore, in the letter is related facts presents in the book – get kicked out of Pencey, bought a gift for Phoebe and spoke with his history teacher – so is direct …show more content…
I know that he was right. Life is a game. But I cannot respect these rules, it is bullshit. It is so phony. I don’t care about them. I tried to follow. The consequence: I failed again. I was expelled from the school, Pencey. Life is so hard Allie. I don’t know about my future and no one cares about my opinion. In Pencey, every class I had to adhere to the rules. It’s for me, extremely phony, had to adopt the rules that the sonsofbitches created. Bullshit. Every time, I tried to have sex with many girls. But again, everyone in the world is phony. They care just about your status and if you are famous. They just want to be popular. Bullshit again. When you were here, I don’t smoke or drink. Now. Now, I’m a stupid drunker and smoker. I lost my days doing it. Smoking and drinking. I swear to God. I swear to you. I tried to find the way. I tried do find my way. I swear. I tried to play the game, I tried. I discovered that now, the game is over. The game ended for me. I cannot play anymore. I failed in all subjects – just English not. I was kicked out of school. You are not here.
